If you wish to see the subtlety of white privilege in this land, consider the verdict yesterday regarding the Far Right militia group of the Bundy clan, led by Ammon Bundy.

They stormed a government, federal building in Oregon, occupied it for 41 days, refused to surrender, confessed that they had taken the building over (and gave live interviews), had dozens of weapons (including rifles and sub machine guns), and claimed that they were ‘patriots’.

Yesterday, a jury ruled that they were not guilty of *ANY* crime, and said they were only exercising their First Amendment Rights. The Bundy clan walked out of the court house without even a penalty.

Contrast this to a few dozen high profile cases in our Muslim community. People like Ali al-Timimi, Sami al-Arian, Tarek Mehanna, Ismail Royer, and a host of others. Some of them were sentenced to life in prison, whereas others got long sentences, for what essentially amounts to thought crimes in the eyes of the government. These people were not guilty of actually carrying a weapon, or storming a building, or any physical act. All of them were considered guilty because of speech and thought that the government viewed as criminal.

It is at times like this when belief in a Final Judgment Day is so necessary. There is no ultimate justice in this world, but in the next, everyone will get what they deserve, and no one shall be wronged.
