April 2015

H.E. Shaykh Abdullah Bin Bayyah responded to the panel (below) on How Muslim Women Can Create Peace in Our Communities,

"I am proud of you and would like to greet you and praise you and we are standing by you and we encourage you to continue your work. The Prophet ﷺ said do not prevent women from going to the mosque and those who are not allowing women to go to the mosque they are committed a sin.

There was no barrier in the mosque of the Prophet and in Mecca there is no barrier, this is especially important in the west."

France has demonstrated the reality of anti-religious secular fanaticism (once again). In its totalitarian neo-fascist interpretation of laicete (separation of church and state), it wishes to deny the freedom to practice religion and virtue, even as it champions the freedom to practice promiscuity and vice.

A 15 year old Muslimah girl, who happens to have the same name as one of my own daughters (and hence, for that reason, the story took on a bit of a personal angle and irritated me even more!), was told to go back home and denied entry into her school because she wore a long, loose skirt. French laws already ban her and her sisters in faith from wearing the hijab (but, France tells them, feel free to show as much cleavage and thigh as you want!), so this young lady would remove her hijab before entering the school premises.

But apparently it wasn't enough for the intolerant headmistress, who couldn't bear to see any form of modesty as our sister covered her legs. She claimed that the skirt was too religious for her liking.

I do not know the political climate in France, but I wonder if our French brothers and sisters can organize a form of legitimate protest that might help to change such policies? Public awareness? Writing letters to the school officials or other people in charge? Any other ideas (leave them in the comments below)?

It is actions like these that further fuel the already simmering anger and alienation that large segments of Muslims feel. We have no choice but to stop this new form of militant anti-religious secular fundamentalism from taking root and spreading.

…Sheikh Hamza Yusuf, one of the three judges and president of Zaytuna College in the US, had a question for the team about female champions.

“Everything I saw indicated it is directed towards males. Have you thought about women role models?” he asked.

"Ninety percent (90%) of the causalities of war in the modern age are civilians, and 70% of them are women and children.

After our faith, the greatest duty of a man is protecting women."

According to one poll Scotland could become a one party nation as Labour, Tories and LibDem candidates lose every single seat – the thought of more than 50 SNP MPs heading to London has Theresa May frothing at the mouth – she said this was the biggest threat & constitutional crisis since the Royal Abdication. Really? So a group of SNP MPs is a bigger threat than Hitler – just how bloody stupid is fear-mongering May?

So after having someone call me a kaafir on twitter for refusing to say Martin Luther King Jr. is in hell, I thought I'd post this here.

The ruling on saying about an individual that "he is in hellfire" from Ibn Taymiyya (ra):

We judge on whats apparent of a person in this world but we don't pass judgments about people's fate in the hereafter. We can only speak in the general sense but not in specific as only Allah knows whats become of them. This is unless Allah or the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wa salam) specifically mentioned a person in hellfire.
