Today might well be the last day of Ramadan.

It is unrealistic to assume that we will continue to observe the same levels of worship for the rest of the year as we had in Ramadan. In fact, that isn’t even the point!

The main sign of our Ramadan having been accepted by Allah is that our actions after Ramadan are markedly better than they were before Ramadan. If we find ourselves a little more attached to the masjid, a little more eager to read Quran, a little more punctual in our prayers, and a little more spiritual in our outlook, then Alhamdulillah that is a good sign, and a noble result. But if we find ourselves returning to the exact same sins, reviving our laziness and bringing back our spiritual indolence, then alas! Perhaps in that case Ramadan has not done us any good.

Remember that our beloved Prophet (salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said, “The most beloved of all deeds to Allah are those that are consistent, even if they be small.” So let us all add some consistent good deeds to our daily, weekly and monthly schedules, perchance we might attain the love of Allah.

May Allah accept our worship of this month, and allow Ramadan to conclude in all manners of good for us. Ameen!
