This picture was taken of me (unbeknownst to me!) as soon as I finished the final Seerah and sat down waiting for the salat.

I can see myself sad, and yet fulfilled.

As I finished the Seerah, in over one hundred episodes, and mentioned the details of the passing away of our beloved Rasool (salla Allah alayhi wa sallam), I felt an immense sense of emptiness. Yet I also felt a sense of relief and fulfillment. For the last decade, I have been teaching Seerah non-stop in many different places, but this was the first time that I had finished it so thoroughly (I have finished smaller versions for some satellite channels). It was a very personal moment for me.

My goal for this Seerah series was twofold:

Firstly, to make this series the most thorough and academically rigorous and detailed Seerah available in the English language. I feel that, with the help of Allah, I have accomplished this. For each episode I would go to multiple original sources, and classical Seerah commentaries, and even at times Western sources if required.

Secondly, to make this series the most relevant to our times and situation, and to allow Muslims of our generation to connect with the Prophet (salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam). I ask that Allah fulfills this goal of mine as well.

What added to this personal sense of both loss and achievement is that, very soon (within a few days!), I am beginning the fourth decade of my life. Of course that is a very significant milestone in anyone’s life, and I feel that my major accomplishment for this last decade has been this particular series.

The Seerah series has come to an end. But the Sunnah of our beloved al-Habib al-Mustafa lives on, as does our love for him, and we must continue to embody that Sunnah, and revive our love, as much as possible, until we die.

I ask that Allah accepts this effort from me, and forgives me for any shortcomings and mistakes.

And I ask that Allah grants me, and all of us, the shafa’ah of the Prophet (salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam), and his company in Jannat al-Firdaws al-Ala!

اللهم صل و سلم على سيدنا وحبيبنا وقدوتنا وإمامنا محمد وعلى آله وصحبه أجمعين
